Stella came unexpectedly into our lives in February 2006. She and her brother were selected out of a litter as good service dog candidates. She came to live with us until a suitable puppy raiser could be found... and she never left.

Stella is an incredible girl. She combines sweet and sociable with drive and trainability in an adorably small package. She loves to lean against your leg and be pet. She will try to sit on your lap whenever you occupy a recliner (this IS possible for a small Labrador). Conversely she will retrieve a ball endlessly and considers food to be the ultimate force in the universe. She has a strong on / off switch. In the house she is very calm and laid back. She spends her days sleeping, but she is always ready for playtime, hiking, or training. In her service dog training Stella was very confident and focused. Her attention rarely strayed from her handler. She competes in Rally obedience to great success. She gets along very well with other dogs and is frequently the "peacemaker" in our house.
